The Social Health Authority (SHA) has made it easier for Kenyans to register for the new health insurance scheme. There are three main ways you can sign up:

  1. Through the SHA Website

  2. Using the USSD Code

  3. At Huduma Centres or via Authorised SHA Agents

Below is a step-by-step guide for each registration option.

1. Registering Through the SHA Website

If you prefer online registration, you can easily sign up on the official SHA portal.

  • Step 1: Begin Registration
Visit the SHA website and click on the "Register" button to start.

  • Step 2: Review Policies and Terms
Before entering your details, carefully read through the policies, self-onboarding instructions, and terms & conditions. This ensures you understand your rights and obligations under the fund.

  • Step 3: Enter Your Details
Fill in the required personal information on the registration form.

  • Step 4: Confirm and Submit
Review all your details carefully, confirm accuracy, and then submit your application.

2. Registering Using USSD (*147#)

For those without internet access, SHA has provided a simple mobile registration option.

  • Step 1: Dial the USSD Code
    On your phone, dial *147#.

  • Step 2: Accept Terms & Conditions
Read and accept the SHA registration terms.

  • Step 3: Enter Your ID Number and First Name
Provide your National ID number and first name for verification.

  • Step 4: Complete Registration
Enter your details accurately and wait for a confirmation message to finalize your registration.

3. Registering at Huduma Centres or With SHA Agents

If you prefer face-to-face assistance, you can visit any Huduma Centre or Authorised SHA Agent.

  • Step 1: Visit With Your National ID
Carry your National ID card for identification.

  • Step 2: Provide Your Information
An SHA representative will capture your details, including your civil status and dependents (if applicable).

  • Step 3: Review and Confirm
Preview your application details. Once confirmed, the agent will capture your biometrics and complete the process.

Final Word

The SHA has made registration accessible for everyone, whether online, on mobile, or in person. Take advantage of these options and ensure you and your dependents are covered under the new Social Health Authority Fund.
